Remember !

We all need to start getting militant about filling holes.

No matter where you are metal detecting (public or private property), always make sure you have permission and always make sure that you fill all your holes.  Preserve this hobby for current and future generations by leaving the ground in just as good of condition as it was when you found it.

We not only “dig” history in a figurative sense, but literally, too. That is, we must dig a hole (“plug”) to extract an item. However, digging a small hole in the ground should never mean disturbing a property. The goal is to make it look like you never dug the hole in the first place.

Pick up your trash and fill in your holes! Nothing marks you as a bad operator more than leaving behind a bunch of trash and open dig holes. There is a reason most treasure pouches are made with two pockets - one for the trash and one for the treasure!
